Who is SATOH MASAHIKO?

A leading pianist, composer, arranger in contemporary music and jazz scene in Japan.

Born in Tokyo, Oct. 6. 1941, after graduation from Keio University as a bachelor of economics, he studied composition and arranging at the Berklee School of Music thruog the scholarship from the American jazz magazine "DOWNBEAT".

His activity is worldwide, such as the BERLIN JAZZ FESTIVAL('71), the MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL('72), the DONAUESCHINGEN MUSIC FESTIVAL('80), the MOERS JAZZ FESTIVAL('82/'91), the KOOL JAZZ FESTIVAL('83), the WILLISAU JAZZ FESTIVAL('85), the LEIPZIG JAZZ TAGE('85), the JVC JAZZ FESTIVAL('87), EAST MEETS WEST in N.Y.('88)

Leader album "AMORPHISM" (recorded in '85 with EDDIE GOMEZ on bass and STEVE GADD on drums) is being released worldwide through the Epic/Sony Records.
"RANDOOGA" (recorded live at the jazz festival SELECT LIVE UNDER THE SKY in Tokyo '90, with WAYNE SHORTER, ALEX ACUNA, NANA VASCONCELLOS, RAY ANDERSON) is also released through SME in France since '91.
As the arranger, he has been offering scores for the albums of NANCY WILSON, HELEN MERRILL, ART FARMER, TOOTS THIELEMANS, and others.
